Definitely different, Brewkulele is energetic, punchy and sometimes a bit sweary. Our motto is Play, Don’t Plod. We want to bust out of the rut that a lot of Uke groups have fallen into and show everyone what a fun instrument the uke is and what joy it can bring. We want to reclaim the uke for Gen Z, and introduce their generation to the joys of a pub singalong.
We produce a different songbook each month, which is available free of charge via a QR code on the evening, for anyone to download and singalong with us. Members* receive it via email a couple of weeks before we meet. Sometimes we collab with a local choir, we’ve been joined by The Motley Crew, a wonderful sea shanty group, and even Sam Ryder has joined us for our energetic finale.
*Membership is free – we don’t charge for what we do. We might send the hat round now and again to put some coffers in the bank to cover things like our very covetable clappers, which are distributed throughout the audience, and also false nails for our lead player who bites her own and doesn’t like playing with a pick.
