Experience a New Brew
What is Brewkulele?
A “brew” of ukuleles, a great venue & you. It’s a creative experience for people who want to try something new.
When you arrive at your Brewkulele event, you will be provided with a specially prepared ukulele to use for the event. Your Brewkulele guide will lead you and your fellow Brewbies on a musical adventure of laughs, drinks, and ukuleles. No musical experience required.
Brewkulele is a fun, relaxing and creative experience where people can connect with others, and anybody can attend, no matter if they have musical experience or not.
It all started with a simple question, “Do you think people would like to strum the ukulele while hanging out at a local brewery?”
Working at Centre Music House in Framingham, we know people love the ukulele. The ukulele is small, easy to learn, and inexpensive. It provides a perfect avenue for someone with no musical experience to be musical.
We also knew that people look for new and interesting experiences where they can be creative, relax, and connect with others. People want new ways to have quality time with friends, family or dates. Or, even to have some time to oneself learning something new.
A monthly ukulele event seemed like a new and interesting experience that people would enjoy!
With this in mind, we went to work developing what would become Brewkulele.
We had two criteria for Brewkulele: first, it had to be a fun, relaxing and creative experience that provided an opportunity for people to connect with others and, second, we wanted it to be open to anybody, whether they have musical experience or not.
Through many discussions, the idea evolved into what is now Brewkulele: An experience where people learn a song on ukulele, connect with others, and enjoy the atmosphere and offerings of the hosting venue.
The question remained, “Would people come to a ukulele experience while out at a great local venues?”
We scheduled our first event at Exhibit A Brewing Company in Framingham. We were nervous about whether tickets would sell. Much to our surprise, the tickets sold out within a week. So we put up the next event for sale. They sold out in 5 days. We added the third event. Sold out in 3 days! Before we held our first event, we sold out 3. We knew we had to deliver!
On January 17th we held our first Brewkulele event. There was much excitement as the guests of the inaugural event strummed away on their ukuleles over craft beers. The video at the top of the page can tell the story better than we can with words.
To answer our question, “Would people want to learn the ukulele over drinks and food?”
We now had the answer. “Yes!”
